  • Hey there! :-) I'm new to this site and just trying to navigate my way around to network and speak with other like-minded people about the school system that I'm currently developing: Alinkage Public School, A Holistic Approach to Learnig. We are creating a website to further ongoing disucssions about this new approach to learning, but you can also get a better view of where I'm coming from by visiting www.facebook.com/apsglobal or www.twitter.com/alinkageschool

Hope to hear back from you :-)

  • Yes, I can be serious, but I have a silly streak and it grows stronger as I am only a month away from my 70th birthday. I like to learn, and am willing to help/share as I am able. Cheers from WA state. I've been a classroom teacher since 1967, and "retired" in 1997. I continue to teach on line, at our local "Center" and at our local computer club. I live in the PC and MAC worlds, do web sites, play with programming, write, and make photographs. Teaching to students that have "ah hah" experiences was the highlight of my teaching career. I've taught all grade levels, special ed, voc ed., adult ed, college, pvt. trade school, university and military classes in a variety of topics, including business, mechanics, electronics, computer tech., etc.

A general discussion group for all teachers.

There are no announcements yet.
I completely agree. I only friend former students who have since graduated high school and are no longer students in the board of education in which I work.

I have found in my industry (Vocational Education and Training) that the resistance to introducing technology is ever present. I think the key to introducing technology into the classroom is to ensure that the correct training is in place for staff to feel comfortable with that delivery. There have also been talks of LMS support and mentors to ease the transition. I'm currently studying eLearning also, and decided to leave one of my contract employers due to the lack of momentum and movement towards change. My students were suffering with the out of date hardware and resources which made it very difficult. This discussion thread has been very informative thanks for all the entries.

Thanks, Kerrie. I have noticed this year especially a lot of plagiarism. In a weird way, it's nice to see students able to find information so easily. I guess the next step would be having them read it and form their own opinions and feelings on it! Ha! Jake G - you said it! Thanks friends.

Hi, I'm an Instructional Tech Specialist (for 10 years) assigned primarily to Elementary Schools but actually support Middle and High Schools also. I originally started with just high schools but the job keeps morphing. I also taught High School Science for over 12 years (biology, earth science, physical science, chemistry, etc.)
